Services
The combination of laboratories, called the Veterinary Laboratory Services Unit (VLSU), operate based on the laboratory quality management system LQMS as accredited by MS ISO/IEC 17025:2005 and MS ISO 9001:2015.
Application for laboratory services can be made via our online submission form and by calling the respective labs for further discussion on our services.
Samples must be submitted to the VLSU Reception Counter directly or via courier. For information on courier service, please go to the Shipping and Courier Service page.
HAEMATOLOGY & CLINICAL BIOCHEMISTRY LABORATORY
Complete Haematology, Coagulation analysis, Clinical Biochemistry, Urinalysis, Cytology and Faecal Examination.
HISTOPATHOLOGY LABORATORY
Gross Postmortem, Complete postmortem, Biopsy slide preparation, Biopsy examination.
PARASITOLOGY LABORATORY
Identification of endo/ecto parasites, Blood examinationFaecal examination, Organ Examination of organs and Enumeration of parasites and PCR.
BIOLOGIC LABORATORY
PCR and real-time PCR and Bird sexing.
BACTERIOLOGY LABORATORY
Isolation & Identification of aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, zoonotic pathogens such as Brucellaspecies and Leptospira species, foodborne pathogens such as Salmonella andCampylobacter, fungi, Antimicrobial susceptibility testing, Total and coliform plate count.
VIROLOGY LABORATORY
Virus isolation in eggs/tissue culture, Virus identification HA & HI tests, Serum neutralization testa and Immunofluorescent test.
AQUATIC LABORATORY
A range of comprehensive testing for bacteria and viruses all fish and shrimp diseases through culture and molecular diagnostics and Water quality analysis.

ANIMAL RESOURCES UNIT
Animal Resource Unit is established as a unit to breed and supply conventionally-housed laboratory animals to be used in either teaching or research purposes to the researchers within and outside UPM.
